Inspiration

In 2002, I discovered with great joy how to work and experiment with textile, especially patchwork and quilting in the traditional manner. Soon my work became more personal and I made textile artworks, wall hangings, artquilts, each with its own story. They are inspired by the universe, the world, nature, human beings and animals in all their beauty, diversity and wonderful richness of colours.
I draw and paint with textile paint, needle and thread, preferably on and with silk, cotton, organza, tulle, sometimes even with metallic, synthetic or plastic material. I work less by hand, but more with free-motion embroidery and quilting on the sewing machine.
The themes I use are either given by the themes of the International Competitions or influenced by my personal life theme: the meaning of life, and how special it is to live here on earth.
I show this, sometimes playfully, with a spark of humour and lots of colour.
The following citations express my wish:
“The calling of an artist: to send light into the depth of the human heart”
Robert Schumann (1810-1856) German composer
“All of art is dedicated to joy and there is no higher and no more serious task, than to bring delight to people’s hearts”
Friedrich Schiller (1759-1805) German poet
